Turning Commands

Hi Michael.

When working with my structures it is often difficult with the turning commands to catch the rigth direction at the first step.
It would be fine to have a reverse funktion to change the direction bevor the command is finished.

With best regards
Hans

Hi Hans, which specific commands are you asking about, is it the Transform > Rotate > "Rotate axis" command or a different one?

Hi Hans, the rotation direction of the Rotate Axis command follows the "Right hand rule" : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-hand_rule - basically if you point your right hand thumb along the axis direction (so tip of the thumb is pointing towards the axis end point), then the direction that your fingers curl will be the positive direction. You can enter a negative angle to rotate in the reverse direction already.

The current Rotate Axis command can't really incorporate a reverse checkbox very easily because once you enter in an angle the command finishes.

But I've attached here a modified version of the Rotate Axis command, with this version if you enter a numeric angle, instead of finishing immediately it has one additional stage to the command where a "Reverse direction" button is shown which you can click to reverse it and observe the difference before finishing it.

To install it unzip the attached file and copy the modified RotateAxis.htm and RotateAxis.js files over top of the original ones (maybe rename the original ones to something like RotateAxisOriginal so you can restore the originals easily if there's a bug in the new one). These files are located in the commands folder. On Windows the commands folder can be found inside the install directory here: C:\Program Files (x86)\MoI 3.0\commands . On Mac right-click the app icon and choose “Show package contents” and inside there go to /drive_c/moi/commands .

Hope this helps!

- Michael

Hi Hans, tomorrow I should be able to make a similar version of regular Rotate for you.

Hi Hans, here's an update for the regular Rotate command so it also has an extra step and a "Reverse direction" button for it as well.
