Having worked with Photoscan, I can say that the number of photos and the physical size of the object has almost no relation. 50 photos is also fairly limiting, while there are probably some objects that could be captured with 50 or less, getting complete coverage of moderately complex objects would require more.

Perhaps they have a way to get a greater number of accurate points, that would be a big plus as taking the photos, photo alignment, surface generation, texture extraction is a time consuming process.
