Hi nordzway, please post the 3DM model file with your 3 pipes in it and I will take a look.

In the future when you have a question about something not working please also post the 3DM model file instead of only a screenshot.

Hi nordzway, it looks like the complication there is that the orientation picker in "Align to objects" mode will by default flip the tripod by 180 degrees to make the y-axis pointing in the upwards world z-axis direction. That isn't so good for your case here and it means you would need to rotate things by 180 degrees in order to compensate for that.

I'll investigate that to see if I can tune that up for V4 but for now you will need to grab the y axis line and drag it by 2 90 degree increment steps to get your proper result. You can then click the axis pointing outwards to set it as the primary axis with the dot on it, and then rotate around it as needed.

Here's what it looks like:

Hi nordzway, also maybe a different way which would be easier would be to rotate the object around its own end rather than making a copy off to the side and then orienting the copied object.

To do the rotation way, select your pipe segment and run Transform > Rotate > Rotate Axis. Pick the axis line at the endpoints you can snap to, then check the "Make copies" checkbox, type 180 and push Enter to make a copy of that segment rotated by 180 degrees and then push Escape to exit the command.

Then if you want to pivot the new segment around, have an axis line prepared and do another Rotate axis of the new segment with "Make copies" disabled.

I thank you for all these explanations

(I know I ask strange things)

Thank you for the time you take to explain, it is a real pleasure to know that we have help like this.

No problem nordzway! :)

Also here is a demo video of using Rotate Axis around the pipe's own end. To make the centerline at the start I dragged out 2 construction lines, if you drag out 2 construction lines from a common starting point it will make a "normal" snap available:

You have also an another strategy more easy! :)
No Rotation - only Copy Move!
From your last file

Use the Transform / Orient /Line Line / Scaling None

Sorry there is a little gap here because i didn't made a Mouse Whell Zoom for the last Click Point!

If a Zoom was made for close up the Click "Hot Point" fit is perfect!

Hi Pilou - Orient line to line will only work for this with certain kinds of rotations. I would recommend using orient line to line for manipulating 2D shapes on a plane, not for 3D orientations, that's what the other Orient command is for.

I've attached an example here where you can see orient line to line won't work well.

I was unlucky to fall on an example who were working fine! :)

I am not yet only sure that i can't Line-line + helper lines to find a solution in any case! :)

Hi Michael,
I am unable to view your last 3 videos.

I've been using IE 11, but have dabbled in Chrome.
On chrome the videos show up. So it must be time to switch to Chrome:-)
Thank you Michael
