Some "unusual" use of MoI

Hi,

I experienced with this during the afternoon...

- Created a repetitive pattern in MoI
- Saved as Illustrator file (right view selected)
- Import the AI file into Photoshop.
- Used the paint bucket tool to fill the "holes" with black and added some gaussian blur
- Created a normal map using the NVidia plugins (http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html)

The final image is an example of the normal map applied to a single polygon in Modo...

Possibilities for such repetitive patterns are endless...

Very cool use of MoI for 2D design work!

In the future I want to add some more 2D-oriented stuff in as well, but that recent addition of AI file export has kind of opened the initial door for using MoI drawings in a 2D pipeline.

Hi Michael
in regards to cool use of 2D design work; consider please saving 2D data as SVG.

Have you seen Inkscape? It's a really well rounded open source vector-illustration application - http://www.inkskape.org/, it supports .ai files as well as natively the svg file-format.

Cheers,

Hi Dee, I have seen Inkscape it is really cool.

I'll definitely be adding SVG support, it's just one of those things that I didn't have time to jam into version 1.0 .
