Hello. I have a 3d scanner, Artec Eva, https://www.artec3d.com/3d-scanner/artec-eva and I need to get a solid from it's scanned data. How can i do it using Mol?

Way beyond my budget :-( The Eva alone at $14,000+++.

It looks like you can export a .OBJ file from what I saw on the website. Depending on the polygon count of the file, you might be able to try Max's script:

Can you indicate what you mean by a solid ...

- watertight triangulated solid (like STL) for 3d printing

or

- nurbs solid for cad or manufacturing use

Hi NastyCage, a scanner like that will generate "point cloud" data, and MoI is not designed to work with processing that kind of data. So I would not recommend using MoI for that kind of task, you should look for software that is specifically focused on handling that.

It's a lot easier to generate triangulated mesh geometry from point clouds than it is to generate CAD solids. There is some software out there that can generate CAD surface data but it's pretty specialized and expensive. MoI is itself very focused on modeling shapes by drawing them and does not have any tools for working with scanned data.

Hello,

Is the scan a one time project or will you be performing this operation regularly? I use M2S and Rhino for scan to CAD. Is the scan highly organic? If it's a one off and it's not a complex assembly I might be able to model it, assuming you can share the file.
