Rotate 90 Script/Hotkey

Hey yall,
Simple question here. Is there a command that I can bind to a hotkey to rotate the selected object by 90 degrees?

eg.
x= Rotate 90, x-axis
shift+x = Rotate 90, y-axis
alt+x = Rotate 90, z-axis

I suppose the pivot would be the bounding box center.. just looking to skip clicking the GUI arrows when rotating a bunch of things.

Thanks

Hi Stein, please try the attached script. Instructions for installing a plug-in command here. This particular one only has a .js file and no .htm since it does not show any UI.

Once you have installed it into MoI's commands folder, a new command named QuickRotate will then be available. You can then set up a shortcut key for it and inside the shortcut key also put any of x y z to control the axis used by that shortcut key, and an angle value. So for example to set up a shortcut key to rotate around the y axis by 45 degrees put this in the shortcut key:
QuickRotate y 45

Hope this helps!

- Michael

Hello Michael,

I'm curious if V3 scripts will work on V4?

Thanks,

Carlos

Hi Carlos, yes in general they should. I think it's possible that a few may need minor edits due to a couple of bug fixes here and there.

Hi Moritz, you would get that error if the QuickRotate.js file was not copied over into your commands folder, there are some instructions on where to copy it here: http://moi3d.com/faq#Q:_How_do_I_install_a_plug-in_script.3F

The error happens because no command named QuickRotate was found in the commands folder, and so instead MoI tried running the contents of the shortcut key as script code itself rather than loading it from the QuickRotate.js file.

Hi Michael
I'm embarrassed. I put the QuickRotate.js into the wrong MOI folder (V3 instead of V3.1 !!!)

Always the same mistake - shame on me 8:(
