Hi Karsten and good morning.

Thanks a lot or your update! Now "Project Elephant" is going in a very promising direction.

Could you please post a practical example with a nod file and some csv files, in order to show us how to use the new CSV node ?

I post here an updated version of your "Project Elephant", the version v.0.85mod5

It's almost identical to your version but it has includes the "objectsExt.js" with the "SelectedObjExt" node that I wrote some times ago.

This node is an updated version of "Selected" node, that allows to specify the order of selected objects : "By Selection" or "By Creation".

It's very useful in order to obtain different elaborations of the same data.

Here's the archive : http://take.ms/Pxp6A

Have a nice day,

- Marco (mkdm)

Hello Pilou,

I don't have any plans to make a fork of the elephant - everything I made is an addition to Maxs untouched core development (I put it all together, because I think it is easier to handle for other users). And if Max change something important - I have to change the nodes - so I did it in the past.
I try also to understand Max philosophy and make it compatible to the planned workflow. It is possible that most of the nodes and solutions are someday obsolete - so it was in the past, but some ideas of me and others may help to get a better tool. I don't know if I can handle all that stuff - every help, every idea is welcome. I don't know why I try to create nodes - maybe just for fun, maybe it is exciting to see what is possible and what others try to do. I try to understand this tool and check the possibilities - If I would need a finished tool, I would buy grasshopper.

Everything is limited in general and my programming skill in special - my nodes don't have the quality or performance of Max ones, but you have always the freedom to play with them, or ignore them, or improve them, or make proposals for better solutions, create something with them, ....

Have a nice weekend
Karsten

p.s.:I switched back to this thread, because I don't want to confuse other users with my posts.

Hello Marco,

you can use the cat50x50.csv from libelle. Create the node and choose the file - thats it. Now you have a pointarray at the output. If you have a look in the Info you will understand how it works;-)
The node works with absolute path-names, so it would only confuse others, that only have a quick look in the nodefile. It's only a draft that has to be improved and I'm not an expert of file handling and parsing :-( If there are comment lines in the CSV-File you can choose a start phrase and an end phrase for start and end of evaluation the columns. You can switch to numarray to evaluate only one column. You choose the column by the number in one of the fields (starting with 0 for the first column) "-1" means no evaluation for pointarrays a default value will be set.

Have a nice weekend
Karsten

Does it possible to have a list of new nodes different (and their functions) than the native Elephant native ?

Hello Pilou,

here is a quick and dirty overview of all nodes - not complete, because for Marcos nodes, I have to take a second look - I know only the standard functionality.

Have a nice day
Karsten

Hi Karsten.

I have updated your "nodes_V0.85_mod4.xls" and created the new file "nodes_V0.85_mod5.xls"
containing an updated version of the infos of all my nodes (column Authors : Marco).
I have also slightly modified the layout of the excel, in order to get more columns and a better reading.
If you don't like this layout, you can freely change it, as long as you don't remove the additional columns.

Let me know when you have created the new thread for this documentation, so I can upload this new excel file.

Best,

- Marco (mkdm)

Good morning Marco,

Nodebundle for playing with nodes, here we have everything in one place or create a new one, maybe Brian has also docs for the core.
@Brian: What was/is your decision for the document format?

A nice day to all
Karsten

Hi Karsten,
I have no particular expertise in software documentation, but did do some preliminary documentation for NodeEditor in Word / PDF.
