Hi Peter, there's a recent thread discussing this here:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=8159.1

The first thing to try is does it work ok if you move the app to your /Applications folder and run it from there?

If still not working, can you check if you have write permissions to the Info.plist file? To find the file right click the MoI app and choose "Show package contents" then inside there go to Contents and you'll find the Info.plist file, right click that and choose "Get info" and in the info pane go down to the bottom section named "Sharing & Permissions", if you expand that section does it say you have both read and write access to the file or does it say something like read only? Maybe you will need to take ownership of this file in order for it to be modified, I don't know yet why that's different since Sierra though.

Something has changed with file permissions in Sierra that is causing this problem but not for everyone it seems.

Apple have started rolling out the next new file system APFS I think it's going to be called rather than HFS+ in the developers Sierra beta version - I think there might be some stuff creeping in already to the mainstream release. Nothing like unsuspecting end users for doing a more thorough beta test because they have no idea that it's there and therefore will not follow any rule set or test criteria if you get what I mean :?

Ok, I managed to find one mention of changes to the Gatekeeper mechanism in Sierra, one of which involves unsigned apps which includes MoI. There's some kind of virtual file relocation for unsigned apps run from /Applications and then my guess is that unsigned apps not run from /Applications are read only which won't work with MoI currently.

Seems like Apple is always changing something every year to make life difficult... Hopefully V4 will improve this situation a lot though since the MoI v4 Mac version will have a lot simpler structure to it than before.

Makes sense, apps launched from /Applications inherit the 'super user' kinda mode and you never have to enter a password or give permission to run the app again once the app has been given clearance. I guess that's why every App installed requires a password to be installed into /Applications and anything added or removed via drag n drop has to be password verified too. Never been too sure if it's Apple or BSD or a combo of the two - lol
