Offset Curves vs Offset + Rebuild. A case study.

Hi everyone,

Sometimes, when I don't need accurate offsetted curves, and I want to keep the curve/surface complexity reduced to minimum for a lightweight modelling,
I've found that its sufficient to tweak a little bit the offsetted curves with the rebuild command.
Depending on the topology of the input curves, you need more or less rebuild points in order to get a decent and sufficient resulting curve.

Here's my last study : http://take.ms/XP8Zl

And here's the 3dm file : http://take.ms/fL8ZQ

Best,

Hi Marco,

Interesting, i'll keep that in mind. That amount of points are overkill and could lead to bog down the machine.

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Here's a case study of a fairly complex but lightweight model,
created with this aim in mind : less control point as possible.

Type : Solid
total control point count : 5102
N.B All the surfaces where shrunk.

The zipped 3dm : http://take.ms/5mfug

And some screen captures :
