How about the invisible lines...? Usually appear as a dash line.

Thanks..

Hi Anis, when you run the command there is an option for whether to generate invisible lines or not. To enable it, turn on this checkbox here:

When enabled the hidden lines will be assigned to a style named "Hidden lines". If you export to Illustrator you can look for that layer to set up dashed line styles.

Hi Pilou,

re:

It's normal for this particular case since it was able to re-use the prompts from the Make2D command which you have already translated.

Hi Dzeko,

The 3D view gets converted to 2D by a projection method and it's just part of how projection works that an angled projected line does not have the same length as the original line.

You can try putting in the dimension in the 3D model before you run Make2D so the dimension text and arrows are all part of the process, or if you need better dimensioning than that you should try some different CAD programs that have focused more on that specific area than MoI has as of yet. Try ViaCAD for an inexpensive solution.

Hi Chri, I would like to do a more full featured drawing generation in the future.

Do you happen to have any example models along with 2D drawings generated from them similar to the diagram you show? Any examples like that for me to reference and compare against would be helpful in the future when I get a chance to work in this area again.

Hi Chri, thanks very much for the examples!

So if I understand correctly, you're currently getting this done by setting up that diamond with 9 copied objects in it and then applying the proper rotations to each object?

Would it perhaps be better to automate that object copying and transformation process with a command that generated 9 objects from one, rather than having it do Make2D output only? Because then you'd have a few more options like being able to export to PDF or AI format to get the shaded background underlay, or doing Make2D on the Top view in just one more step... ?

Also for your methodology, how is the size of the diamond determined?

hi Michael

Perhaps the size of the diamond could be a parameter for the "automatic layout" generation .
( in a first time , it can be for example (part size) x4 if the part is cubic ).

I think , that , like in all Cad program , you need to choose and ajust the best views during the dimensionning .
The final result can't be automatic. ( "automatic layout" is only a step before manual final layout ).

Chri
