World axes hidden by objects

Hi there,

In MoI the world axes in the viewports are always "behind" objects or just hidden when geometry is drawn. This is a little bit inconvenient in my opinion. I would like to see them when they are theoretically in front of geometry, like in this picture. The camera shows the bottom of the cylinder, the cylinder is placed at 0,0,0. So normally you would see the world axes here. So, is there a option to change this behavior? If not, I would *love* to see in v4.

Moreover, is there a possibility to show color axes instead of the gray ones?

Hi 3image, sorry no there's no way to make the world axes in front of your objects - both those axes and the grid are designed to go underneath all geometry so that they don't obscure your view of the objects. I'm not sure that an option to bring them in front would really make sense because those are intended to be part of the grid and if the entire grid was drawn on top of everything it would probably look very confusing and cluttered.

You can change the grid axis colors under Options > Grid > "X axis color" and "Y axis color", but note that those are applied to the local grid in every viewport, so in the elevation views it will be the y axis color shown in the up direction. I'll probably change this eventually to add a z axis color as well and assign the colors by their world axis directions.

Hi 3image, a different thing that you could do now to get the type of display you want would be to draw in 2 lines going along those axis lines and then you can select the lines and use Edit > Lock to lock them so they won't be selectable.

By default locked objects are drawn in a gray color but you can change that in options under Options > View > Colors > "Locked objects use alternate color".
