I would like to group a couple of named objects labeled with different styles under a new name
but their old names get overwritten.

Is there any solution for this ?

Do you want them to be a sub group under a new name, keeping their old names ?

How about you select them and make them the same colour , then they will keep their old names and the colour will be the grouping

In the future I want to add in a "Group" mechanism which will allow for hierarchical named structures which would do what you're looking for.

But sorry, currently MoI does not have any method for doing that.

I had assigned them different colors which I would like to keee (part of the desin process )so if I assign them a new color I will loose the already assigned colors. But it looks like this is the onlyway to go.
