Hi Stefan,
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it looks like to many naked edges.
I would rebuild it like so.

1. Re-create the two profiles.
2. Run "Planer" on the poly-line piece
3, Trim that with the oval.
4. Extrude that.
5 Create two curves and boolean diff, removing the top and bottom pieces.
6. Run the Chamfer tool.

Works for me.

Guess I was a little late.
Here is take two, where instead of creating two curves, you create two fairly large spheres, positioned slightly apart to account for the thickness you need.
Use one sphere and run Boolean Diff.
With the other, run a Boolean Intersect.

Your construction lines are a little out of square (Align is your friend), also try moving the egg shaped seam to the midpoint of a larger face.Those construction lines have a crazy amount of points, for clarity I rebuilt and aligned, and it chamfered fine, even with or without straight edges enabled. I have some time for a video if needed.

Clean and fast with Box, Isect, Network

Envelop with box


Use Isect, after delete all solids


Cleanup and use Network


Trim and shrink
