Planar not working on closed curve

Hi,

I have a problematic case where the planar command won't work on a closed curve (on the separated version won't work either). When I press on the planar button, nothing happens. It would be super useful if MoI could give at least a hint (even if it is very cryptic) as to what happens.

I have exported the curve into a new file. Maybe someone has an idea.

Many thanks,
Stefan

Make sure the curve is flat. Search +planar. See posts 3378.4 & 7790.6.

Doh, the curve is not flat (0,0029 in Z direction).
Thanks!

Hi Nic :

a quick method is to project your closed curve on a flat plane, select the projected one and hit - planar surface- command

Select curve, show points, go in the front view, align top.
That's the cleanest way to make it planar without rebuilding the structure.

The edit frame has a "flat" snap that works well for this.

Yeah I like using the edit frame for this, here's an example:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=3378.4

If you don't see flat snap engage it means it was already flat.
