Good afternoon!

So I ran into a situation where I wanted to modify some of the 3D printed parts for my printer to accommodate a larger guide rod. The original files were only available in Solidworks SLDPRT and STL.

I ended up using a free service called GrabCAD to convert the SLDPRT to a STEP file, which imported perfectly into MoI3D where I could perform the necessary modifications.

I'm posting this just in case anyone else runs into the same situation where they need to modify a Solidworks file in MoI3D.

Maybe free Onshape can also do that ?

I always use Onshape. Didn't know GrabCAD did the same. Thanks for sharing :-)

Sadly, GrabCAD is Windows only. :(

So use Onshape! ;)

???? GrabCad is a file sharing service that is browser based.... "Windows only?" They even have an "IOS App".....

Am I missing something twofoot? What is only windows based about grabcad?

Using Iges fomat for getting objects to Moi from solidworks.
I've used this method very often and never had any problems
