I've a Surface Pro 4 on order as well, also my main use will be to run MOI3D. Judging by the comments here and the comments on the other thread, all should be well. Since Surface Pro 4 runs a full version of Windows 10 it should be OK, especially since it is as powerful as many desktops. I ordered the version with the i7 processor along with 16 meg of ram. Microsoft mentions on their site that this configeration can run AutoCad OK so I reckon if it can do that it can run MOI3D.
I'm still waiting on delivery from Microsoft because of the configeration of my order.

daveho, Michael and BarryMac:

Thanks for the information.

It looks like the Surface Pro 4 should be capable of running MoI when using Windows 10 and perhaps after some minor tweaking of .ini parameters (i.e., turning off multi-threading).

I'm glad to see that it's possible to use this tablet, since it appears that the Surface Pro 4 is the only good option for a Windows tablet at this time. Other windows-based tablets seem to get consistently bland reviews, whereas, the reviews and comments for the Surface Pro 4 seem seem consistently glowing. Hopefully the Surface Pro reviews are valid and accurate.

Just for my own curiosity, are others using different tablet options (other than the Surface Pro) when using MoI, and what has been their experience?

Looks like it's time to pull the trigger.

Thanks again for your comments.

Hi Tom,

I think Isaiah Coberly has been happy with a Samsung tablet, there's a video of him using it here:

I use MOI regularly with a SP3 without any issues, I am sure the 4 will work.

After testing MoI 3 with my wife's Surface Pro 3 (i5, 8 GB, 256 SSD) I decided to purchased a SP 4 a few days ago with the same specs (i5, 8 GB, 256 SSD). Both handle MoI well.

The SP 4 has a higher screen resolution, better pen resolution (4x) and better heat management so I think it is better for graphic work. If you use the touch pad or a mouse it is the same as any laptop to navigate but you can manage with just the pen. I loaded some of my average sized files with no issues thus far. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the SP 4 with the pen so sorry that this is a little light.

On a side note I can run blender with it but you have to set the font size to about 115 in the user preferences so that you can read the text.

For any of you using OnShape you can edit your sketches in the Chrome browser and see all of your lines (and in the correct color) rather than just a flat plane outline!

I will say the SP is a bit different to use but so far I'm not looking back to use my 6.9 lb Sony Vaio with a dedicated Graphics card.

Hope this helps,
David
