If you want to stay within MoI and do this type of low poly stuff go to Options/View/Meshing Parameters/ and set the Mesh Angle to something like 40 :)

For a free decimate Meshlab is a good one: ;) (and for other things! :)

Hi Stefan (Nicolinux) - yes like the other Stefan writes above probably your best bet would be to export to a polygon mesh format, and then bring that mesh data into a polygon decimation utility program.

Wish they would update Balancer to 64 bit, and with some minimal retopology function, like converting to quads, ... would be nice

Hello,

+1 for Atangeo, I like the tolerance based decimation that nPro has among other features. I'm pretty sure Atangeo comes in both 32 and 64 bit flavors.

Thanks everybody.

I know about Meshlab (used it to create create the reduced bunny). I tried Atangeo and I like it. Since I have rather simple objects, I can get away with the free version. The importObj script works great too!

That's my source object:



Then I use Atangeo to reduce/simplify it (this messes it up pretty bad, but I want it that way :) )



Then I import it in MoI where I can even use the move command to snap the edges onto each other and together with the planar command and bool union to produce a solid!
