Astute Graphics recently released Stipplism (AI plugin) and I've found that it is good compliment to MoI for technical illustration since it is able to vector stipple the raster layer output from MoI. There are some advanced features I haven't had much time to experiment with, but these sort of images are quite easy to produce.

Astute is definitely adding more value to Illustrator especially for us stubborn cloudless ones. ;)

My journey with Adobe ended at CS6, I never got caught up in the cloud apps, especially due to the blatant lack of security and liability associated with many of those services. I see some great applications for USPTO illustrations using this combo since both linear and stipple shading are acceptable and complex illustrations usually took a ridiculous amount of time to stipple. Using MoI and the plugin can save days of time on that process.
