Vojtisek's weapon grip Tutorial

Hi everyone. Vojtisek's kindly let us download his weapon, which was fabulous! I saw the pistol grip wasn't exactly fleshed out like the rest of the model, so I thought I'd put a NURBS one together for him, and take the opportunity to show how I would attempt to attack this part of the model.

It's sped up considerably and I try my best to narrate and keep up, but frankly I'm not sure I did a very good job. For those interested, they can download the grip HERE. Just import it into Vojtisek's model and it should come in perfectly aligned.

Looks great Chipp!

By the way do you by any chance have your MoI tutorials gathered together anywhere so I can put in a link to them?

Thanks, - Michael

Thanks chip, the g2 fillet and deleting the corner points is invaluable. Also, the hack with the shell is a great tip.

@Chip

I am desapointed! You make a little excursion out of MOi! :)

Little questions : you make you reccord first then put the audio ?
How is the Speed * X ?
There is no system of "Show simplified Commands" in the left Bottom Corner?

Cool tut video!

Bonjour Monsieur Pilou,

Sometimes we need some extra sandpaper to 'round the edges'! For that, IMO, Onshape is the best. In fact I can't even get Fusion 360 to open a MoI SAT or STP file. It just crashes. And Viacad's workflow actually makes my fingers hurt.

Yes, I typically like to record first, then annotate. That way I can speed things up so it's not too boring. Usually I build it w/out recording first, then clear, then start recording. This time I just turned on Camtasia and started making the model. It was quite long, and I deleted a section where I couldn't get Onshape to fillet correctly (I was using too large a dimension by a factor of 10). And then I sped it up 800X, the most I believe I've ever sped up a tute.

Je ne comprend pas "There is no system of "Show simplified Commands" in the left Bottom Corner?"

@ Chipp: Thx for the infos!

<< "There is no system of "Show simplified Commands" in the left Bottom Corner?"

Something like this! ;) It's more confortable (if possible) than look at the normal Moi menu up/ middle right side! ;)

Start at 0.12 minute - but Idon't know if this is existing for Moi!

Thanks for the tut Chipp, always interesting to see how other people works !

Will give Onshape a try, wish one of this 'free' cad system will have a clipboard copy feature so you can quickly exchange geometry on the fly.
It's very impressive to see Onshape in even working on a phone/tablet Oo

Thanks Frenchy.

I understand. I'll see if Camtasia allows for that feature-- it's a great idea!

Great tutorial Chipp. The fast-forward pace was just right for me, as real-time tutorials can sometimes be like watching paint dry.

When I made my car tutorial a few months back I paid no attention to corner points when making cutting objects (never occurred to me they could be an issue). Maybe I was just lucky that fillets worked in some pretty complex areas, like the wheels for example.

It's a shame that MoI fillets are not more robust, but very interesting to see how Onshape completed your task. I really hate the idea of using two programs to accomplish something like that, but it's good to know a back-up method exists.

Hope to see more tutorials from you.

Hi Chipp
Thanks for the tutorials I have learned a lot. Someone should do a tutorial on how to set up scripts. I know that Ed helped me install the subd ones that he used to make his car but I couldn't get the Voronoi script to work.
