Hmmm,
I think I really will have to alter my way of working: Since MOI is so
intuitive, I proceed always so fast, and very often just delete stuff which
is not working as I want and go another way, as I did with this one.
In short, somehow that file wit that problem as you see it on the
pics is no more :-(
The only thing I can say is, that I usualy do a rebuild with all curves I
work with in order to get as little CPs as possible. In case of such sweep
things, I always look, that the amount of CPs in the shapes is similar.
Anyway,
problem is gone for now, if I run into something like that again, I will
keep the file.

Here is a curve made with freeform command, which yields a good freeform sweep, but a bad flat sweep.

Hi Brian,

You won't use 'Flat' option Sweep for such a shape, the 'Flat' option is mainly used to control or force a multi sided profile in either X,Y or Z direction along an axially produced rail.

For example; the attached file produces the opposite what you have Bad 'Freeform', Good 'Flat'.

sometimes if your profile gets flipped or you select the wrong part of it the sweep does a 180 twist as if sweeps

I would try flipping the left hand circle with points on 180 degrees and see if it changes the sweep error
