Lasercut acrylic. Thanks Michael for a great program and thank you those who write scripts that helped!

Speaking of scripts, if anyone is up for a challenge, I would love to have a 2D part packing script! Manually trying to place parts close together for cutting is a long process. Is there actually a way in a script to find/define the polygon of a closed curve?

Scott

Hi scott, wow that is a fabulous and unique work from CNC!

If you get a chance it would be cool to see it in the gallery: http://moi3d.com/gallery/

It's possible to use the array factory to replicate a point along a curve to make a polygonal version of the curve. Check out the ReconstructCurve plugin for an example: http://kyticka.webzdarma.cz/3d/moi/#ReconstructCurve

This is kind of moving backwards from Rapid Prototyping and all Digital models, but I need to build physical car model (scaled). I would like to know if there are any ways to "automatically" slice a model into user defined thickness for generating templates. Templates would be printed and used with urathane foam layers to recreate the MOI model.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob, there is a tool from Autodesk that is specifically focused on generating thick slices from models to build them using laser cut pieces.

I think it's this one here: http://www.123dapp.com/make

Importing your model into that is probably the easiest way.
