Made this in cad about 8 years ago ...... Just wanted to show what Blender 2.74 can do for a product shot . Blender now imports OBJ with the vertex normals correctly, and cycles is amazing for this type of work.. I was looking at buying MODO ,they show some amazing work in their gallery , but i dont think i need too now .... anyway i welcome any feedback ...PS..I will be purchasing MOI shortly

Cheers

Hi qmc, that's a great looking model and render! That's great that Blender is importing vertex normals now, that will greatly increase render quality for CAD models.

Cool result! For a nice price! ;)

Blender don't yet accept Nurbs format ?

Looks like a great render to me.

Can't see the point in forking out $1800 for modo if your getting this quality out of cycles & blender.

Nice Render !

If I may suggest, you could play with "dither" in render/post-processing tab, to avoid the banding on the background.

You can not import Nurbs natively , yet the the developers have implemented Custom Vertex Normals ..V2 as of 2.74 , which retains the vertex normal data from the host application . You have a choice to import OBJ or FBX at the moment .. I have been waiting 8 years for this to happen in Blender.
