I have some concept about trying to make the join command do some optional combination of both joining and merging at the same time as well, but the down side about it is making the current join workflow take some more steps where you'd have to answer some additional command stage to say whether you wanted things merged or not...

Does a short video tutorial for the Merge command exist?
Likely it is very simple, but I've never gotten any discernible result.

Thanks

Hi Mindset,

No, I'm not aware of any video tutorials specifically for Merge.

It will only work if you have fragmented edges that are touching each other smoothly.

I've attached an example file here, in this file the front top edge of the box is split into 2 pieces, here you can see one of the 2 pieces selected:

Select the other edge piece next to it so that those 2 fragmented edges are selected, then run the Merge command (push the Tab key to put focus in the XYZ control and then type Merge and push Enter is one way to run it, other way is to set up a keyboard shortcut).

After you have run Merge on it, try to select the edge again and you should see that there is only one big edge there now rather than multiple edges.

You can also select the whole object and run Merge, it will then try to merge as many smoothly touching edges as it can find.
