Curious???

Object to the right shows calculation errors.
Knows how to do that but not more reproduce.



In this picture, Fillet-Champfer employed, left Object D1(Distance)=1, D2=0.3, reight Object D1=1, D2=0.5.
These effect could I now reproduce, file is at, please with D1=1, D2=0.5 evaluation purpose.

Hi Eddi, can you please post a .3dm with your original curves as well?

That would help me to reproduce the loft calculation error over here.

Hi Eddi, I can also produce the chamfer problems over here as well.

But unfortunately those are quite difficult for me to fix. I will gather these up and send them to the people who make the geometry library that I'm using and they should be able to fix them up over time, but it will be a kind of slow process. In general fillets and chamfers are a very complex area. In this case there appears to be a problem with some of the slight curvature of the side surfaces as they meet up in a sharp corner. Sometimes things meeting up where they are close to being tangent but not quite can cause difficult calculations.

But the loft one I could probably fix up right away if I had a good example to reproduce it from the original curves, that's why I was particularly interested in that.

Sometimes a bug is caused by some very specific arrangement of curves, like endpoints in particular spots or things slightly twisted from one another. That can make it difficult to try and reproduce the problem just by drawing something new.

"Distance 1 Distance 2" merely a value will be calculated.

I've never been able to get my head around chamfer...

Yeah, chamfer is a bit odd right now, I will be tuning this up shortly. I'm going to switch it to use only a single value, and have a checkbox that will expand it to 2 values if you want.

Hi Eddi, thanks for sending in this additional example of that bulge in Loft, that helped me figure out what was going wrong.

I have fixed this bug for the next beta release - it was an error in setting the tangent directions in certain circumstances. Another thing you can do to solve it in the current beta is to switch the "Profiles:" option to "Exact" in this case. That's because the bug was in the refitting mechanism.

Yes, I'm seeing some odd behavior in there too, I will be fixing up this Chamfer UI as well.

Thanks, got it. This is a different error than the previous one - this time it's a problem in the display mesh, the actual surface itself is fine.

I'll see if I can tune it up.

It shouldn't be too many more days before it is ready, I'm just trying to fix up a few last details.
