Yes, use the parametric equations for ellipse. (google parametric ellipse)

For example:
x(u,v) = 2*cos(u)

y(u,v) = 3*sin(u)

z(u,v) = 0

ptu = 50

ptv = 0

mode UV or V works

Moi's ellipse is "exact" with NURBS.
