Hi,

Looking to buy Moi or ViaCad Pro 9, Moi looks the best workflow
and I was wondering how well it exports to other apps, I'm using
Modo 801, Vue Infinite 2014 and Carrara Pro 8, been looking at
Marmosett toolbag to possibly go along with Moi as well.

Any opinions would be very helpful.

MoI is ABSOLUTELY GREAT TO WORK WITH.

I suggest you download the trial copy, use it for a month and you will never look back.

Hi Pete, yes like eric writes above the best way to test export to other apps is to use the 30-day trial version and test it with your own projects.

But since MoI is focused just on modeling, it is a focus area for it to have a good export to other applications. There are a lot of people that get MoI just specifically for using its export conversion from CAD objects into polygon mesh data.

For export to Modo you would use LWO export, for Vue and Carrara use OBJ export.

Hey Pete,

Wow, someone else who uses ViaCAD! I'm designer and I much prefer Moi. If you're an engineer type you may prefer ViaCAD. One I do not like about ViaCAD is the method to dolly around the scene. Not as intuitive. ViaCAD is an engineer app so you can be VERY precise with it. For quick concept generation though Moi can't be beat! Also put it this way, I haven't used ViaCAD in years!

FYI, I use a lot Hexagon for poly modeling and Moi for NURBS. Still haven't found a good rendering app to compliment them.

I suggest you try Octane standalone. It is fast (if you have a CUDA video card and very adjustable. Reasonable priced, too.

I'll add another free plug for MOI. I've been using it professionally for a number of years now, and I really don't know what I would do without it. Plus, this forum (and Michael Gibson's unbelievable attentiveness here) is simply extraordinary.
