Me, too, when he bombarded the old Silo forum with a never ending MoI thread.

^LOL!

I'm not sure, I remember being on the Rhino beta development list - I used to totally believe "McNeel" was straight out Michael's company, in my mind, Rhino == Michael!

I purchased Rhino v1 and fell off at v2.

It was when I learned he had moved on to Microsoft, much to my horror, that I realized that Rhino wasn't his product!

I may have learned about MoI on the Silo forums as well, but I remember being so happy to see Michael was developing another "Rhino like" product, with a killer mesher to boot - SOLD!

The thing that had sold me the most about MoI at the time was because I was using Cinema 4D XL and when importing MoI's exports into C4D they looked >just as clean and crisp< as they did in MoI!

I read positive comments about MoI in several NURBS-related forum threads. I became intrigued and visited the MoI website, and after I started playing around with the trial version I discovered what a relatively hidden gem MoI is. Its no-nonsense workflow is unmatched. A joy to work with.

I've taken up 3D printing in my retirement and started 3D design with OpenSCAD. After 6 months or so I was casting around for a graphical alternative and stumbled across Cubify Invent and the tutorials prepared by Tom Meeks. Wasn't fully happy with Invent and noticed that Tom Meeks had also done a series of tutorials on MOI. Soon I was hooked.

I think I saw a mention of MoI over in the Strata3D forum. I had been looking for a solid modeler to compliment Strata's poly modeling tools and eventually settled on ViaCAD. Shortly after purchasing that I found MoI. Having an art, rather than an engineering background, I wish I had found MoI first. Michael has certainly captured lightening in a bottle with MoI!

ViaCAD still comes in handy for some of the trickier shell and fillets...

Via Alibre, before it became "Geomagic Design."
The "moribund" Geomagic design forum has a MoI section, but rarely does anyone post anything.

Trawling the web for hours looking for a decent and affordable NURBS modelling program, launched the trial for the very first time and didn't even bother looking at the others on my list, this was the one :)

Just a mention about MoI on the Rhino forum a few years ago. I would love to use MoI exclusively and when dimensions and line widths come to MoI that is exactly what I will do. MoI and Octane will be all I need. Just waiting for the day.
Now most of my design work happens in MoI but when I have to start dimensions I am forced to switch back and forth, with regret. MoI is so fluid ... I love it.

A post by Frenchy Pilou. Probably on Polyloop.net or ZBrush.fr...

Impossible for me to count the number of sites, resources or applications I discovered thanks to Frenchy ! :-)

Happy MoI user since beta version of August 13 2006...

I stumbled upon MoI in 2006. I've been a proud beta tester, user and supporter ever since!

I've become quite curious how Pilou discovered MoI. I suspect he already knew about it before Michael started its development. ㋡

Hahaha!! He can't do it alone, there must be thousands of little Pilous working for him!

I found it via the talkgraphic forum back around 2007 I think, I was sold instantly.
I'm drawn toward solid modeling, it's better suited for my needs to create fast models for illustration reference.
