Export to Archicad BIM model

Hi Michael,
Ii've just upgraded to V3 and it's fantastic. Great work!

I wonder if you can help me on this:
We are an architectural practice and we're used to model our projects using MOI and Sketchup. And, as you know, is not that difficult to use these softwares together.
Now, one of our clients is demanding us to submit a BIM model of the entire project.
For that, we're counting to use Archicad because that's our main production package. However, it's almost impossible to model organic shapes using it as we are used in MOI.
So, the idea is to export some pieces modeled in MOI to Archicad. We have tried to export first to sketchup, and after to archicad as "Objects" that can be transformed in editable "MORPHS". But, that's a bit complicated and not "intelligent" at all. Usually, for BIM purposes, a IFC file should be the solution.
Is there a way to export MOI models as IFC files? If you or someone else could help me, it would be great.

Thanks,

José

Hi,
I did what you asked for once, using Rhino and VisualARQ.
Just open the .3dm in Rhino, and save it as .IFC. But you need to have VisualARQ installed.
Hope it was helpful.
Max.

I did a google of "convert 3dm to IFC." to get some information.
There is some Rhino/Grasshopper information about conversion to mesh in Archicad.

There isn't any built in way to do it... I'm not at all familiar with IFC files myself.

Probably your best bet is going through Rhino like Max describes above.

Thanks Brian and Michael,
We're are now trying VisualArq and Grasshopper. As soon as we get to some conclusions, I'll let you know.
