A small continuity problem there

Hi everyone,

I'm modeling an iPhone 6 for a client and I've got a small continuity problem I think

See I'm trying to do a curve then a sweep to make the backside of the phone, the back is perfectly flat which is correct (yes I got an iPhone 6 to verify, outer shell only, non functional)

The sweep curve has G2 curvature (rounded corners)

Here in the attached 3DM file you'll find my result so far, is there a way to improve it? The profile curve has been hand drawn from a side scan so it's visually accurate but I don't care about being accurate to the micron

Any help or advice on how to build such a shape would be greatly appreciated

Thanks :)

Hello Samuel,

It looks like you have a very slight issue at your corners, they are G1 but not G2. The region where the sides meet the top are G2 but not G3. It would be very hard to tell there is something a bit off there without the zebra pattern and analysis. Hope the data helps.

Thanks! I fixed the naked edge problem

For the continuity I think it will be ok now because I only do fixed camera position renders where you don't really see the backside anyway

Hope that MoI will get matballs support one day so we can have something like zebra :)

Hello,

A G2 blend between surface edge 12 and 14 seems to work well and the resulting surface edge 13 looks a bit cleaner.
