Basic Boolean Question

I have basic question about boolean operators. Let's say I "drilled" a hole in a solid in the wrong place and I want to fill the hole. Of course I can insert an extruded cylinder of that exact height and aligned and then union the two together to fill the hole.

Is there a more efficient method I'm missing where I can just fill the hole with a solid and then have an operator remove the parts that are not intersecting and then union what is left? I'm guessing this basic but I'm not seeing it right now.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott!

Basically, you "just" have to remove the trim curves from a surface to regain the original surface. But this could get quite tricky, depending on you setup.
There is a (dated but valid) tutorial on object repair techniques available.

Scott,
In most cases, you should be able to delete any interior surfaces you created, then select and delete any naked edges. That should restore the original solid.
(Naked edge script here, if you don't have it: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=6051.2)
