Using Shift and Ctrl to switch to panning and zooming

Hi Michael,

I've recently reverted to a drawing tablet, after using a mouse again for a while.

In Blender 3D you rotate the view using the middle mouse button. I've activated the MoI option to rotate the view with the middle mouse button, so that's fine.

Also, in Blender you switch to panning by holding Shift, and zooming by holding Ctrl, while you keep using the MMB. This is quite handy when using a tablet, also because you don't have to scratch across the tablet surface with each pan or zoom movement.

Is this also possible in MoI, switching to panning when using Shift + MMB, and zooming using Ctrl + MMB?

Thanks,

Metin

Sorry no there's no way to do that particular combination currently with the middle mouse button.

When you have the middle button set to rotate you can use right drag (with no modifier keys) to pan.

But there are also methods with the Alt key using the regular left drag (just pen tip pushing).

Alt + left drag = pan (when having middle button swapped to rotate like you've currently set, otherwise it's rotate).

Alt + shift + left drag = rotate (or pan if swap pan/zoom is not set).

Alt + ctrl + left drag up/down = zoom

You might try the Alt key way and see if that works for you.

Thanks for the info, Michael! I'll play around with the options.

Have a nice weekend,

Metin

Ah, Alt + RMB is an alternative option to zoom. That way I can avoid using the pen tip for navigation.

I've changed my Blender viewport navigation settings accordingly. After all, MoI is more important than Blender of course. ㋡

Hi Metin, also you may have already seen but Shift + Right drag will do Pan or Rotate, whatever the opposite of the plain right drag will do.

So if you like you can use the Right button with modifier keys to do everything.

Hi Michael,

Yep, and I've noticed that Ctrl + RMB also zooms, next to Alt + RMB, so I'm a satisfied man again. ㋡

All the best,

Metin
