I take your point about Michael developing new features. I would consider the customui bar a valuable feature that is so useful it has my vote,
Convenience has its place in life also :)
The very simplicity of it works well within the MOI layout, not overcluttering the screen (its dead space down there anyway).
Its so good I also would donate to max for an installer.

Hi Michael,

I am new to Moi and this Forum and like to write first of all that I am really impressed with your work and the Moi community.
Please can you advice if anyone would buy the current version now, would that include a free upgrade to version 3?

If that will not work, can you provide an indication when the final release of v3 is expected?

Thank you and best regards,

Tarek

Yes, I'm planning on doing that. I have not worked out all the specific details yet for how far back from the v3 release date free upgrades will be covered.

I still don't have a specific date set, but hopefully something like a few weeks from now. The main thing remaining is some work to update the documentation.

I've been ready to buy for some time now, but having a very circumspect department of bean-counters to keep happy, I've been waiting for the upgrade details. Can't go back to them in three weeks and say I need another $100 for an upgrade to a program I just purchased.

And I'm SURE I can't live without V.3 ...

Just say the word and you've got my cash.

M.

Thank you Michael,

I used the free trial version for a while and couldn't resist to buy the licence for version 2 this morning.
It would be great if this purchase is within the free upgrade cover for version 3.

I really like this Software!

Best regards,
Tarek

Hi Tarek, thanks for your order, I'm glad that you are enjoying MoI!

> It would be great if this purchase is within the free upgrade cover for version 3.

Yes it will be, you will get an automatic upgrade to v3 when it's released. I'm not sure yet exactly how far back the free upgrade "grace period" will extend for but it will definitely be far enough that any orders placed now will be covered.

Hi Michael,

I finally got a decent machine for running MoI (a used MacPro5.1) and I look forward to v3 as well!
Unfortunately I couldn't spend much time on my hobby since back then, hope that'll be different now...
Thank you for your dedication!

Best regards,
Chyman

Wow, good news about the imminent release. I totally forgot about this thread (no email notification?).
Michael, do make sure that you inform as many people as possible about the release. MoI is really great and deserves attention. If you need help with marketing and spreading the word, I'll help where I can.

Stefan

Hi Michael,

Firstly great to see a lot of exciting stuff that you're adding for V3 - the last time I posted here was about 6 years ago!
I'm still teaching SolidWorks (product and furniture design) and toward the end of the year I show my students alternatives to SW especially packages that are more affordable - previously I believe the Moi3D EDU version was an unrestricted license - is that still the case (and for V3 too)? I think Moi is a great fit for the product design and ID as it gets out of your way and lets you focus on designing much more than other CAD programs I've used. Also it good to see you've done a mac version - I don't use a mac but a lot more students are using them now and they love to complain that SW won't run on them.

Thanks again,

Tobi

Hi Tobi, thanks for showing MoI to your students!

Yup, that's still the case and will be the case for v3 as well. The MoI EDU version can be used for any type of work including commercial work, and can continue to be used after graduation as well. It is not a "not for commercial use" license and does not have any sort of watermarks or things like that.

Thanks, - Michael
