Hi there,

Here's my second tutorial!
This is one is a more in depth look at 2D drawing tools in order to recreate something simple (but still difficult for Illustrator users)

Hope you'll like it
Can't wait to be able to speak more fluently in english ;)

Hello,

Another great tutorial. I do have one little time saving suggestion. I've found using 3 Point circle is a fast and accurate way to set your center point from an image reference. For example you can use the 3 point circle command for the starting innermost circle in your example, then use the center point circle command for the remainder of the circles.

<< Carrot, brocoli
So Moi's vegetarian power! :)

PS About the circular list numbers : does it not more speedy to simply use the Flow function or maybe transform along Curve if you want absolutly straight position ? ;)

@Pilou
Not even! But when you see how bad they treat animals it makes you think...
I don't really understand what you said in your post-scriptum. Are you saying there's a better way than using circular array?

@OSTexo
You're right! I totally forgot about this one because I was focused on showing construction lines haha
I'll include it in my next video

@BurrMan
Sure, making videos allow me to train myself. I once spent one week in London doing interviews and at the final day I was more fluent, it just takes time and practice.

@DrNo
I plan to do a second one (maybe with less in depth explanations and more drawing)

Maybe a video where I draw the rest of those and explain just a few things

Thanks for your nice comments :)

I am thinking about Flow function, but seems there are in the result some different levels between letter of a same word! :(

Hi Pilou,

> I am thinking about Flow function, but seems there are in the result some

That's because you're using the "Rigid" option in Flow - the way the Rigid option works is it only flows one single point at the center of the object's bounding box, and uses that to move and rotate the entire object.

Since each of the curves you show there in a line of text has a slightly different bounding box, they will all end up using slightly different positions on the base curve as their base point.

My guess is that the warping will be less evident if arc and base line are equal length?

Cool tutorial Samuel, thank you. I didn't know that it matters from which side objects get selected.
Will watch it again and also use your shortcut list to speed up my workflow.

Hi Pilou,

> yes but if I don't choice rigid Letters are pespective deformed that I don't want! ;)

Right, so Flow just does not do the particular job that you want there, you would need to use some other method for rotating your text, such as Transform > Rotate, or Transform > Orient...

In the future when there is such a thing as a "Group" in MoI, it would then probably work to make Flow with the Rigid option take the center of an entire group rather than just each individual object and that would solve your particular issue here.

A little Workaround ;)

Draw a solid Plane around the letters
Select Plane + letters
Make Flow (Line / Arc Circle )
Select Plane result
Erase it!
Et voilĂ !
Letters are not deformed! ;)
