Hi there,

i m just playing with my 3dconnexion wireless mouse and i really like the intuitive 3d navigation :-)

BUT: i can not use the two buttons of the mouse.. i assigned to different keystrokes to them which should trigger two custom shortcuts a "g" for 3dview and a "v" for the quad view. They work on the keyboard but not withe the 3dmouse..
i m working withe moi v3 beta.

Has someone a idea?

THX
Ralf

Hi Ralf, are you able to send keystrokes with the mouse buttons to other applications?

I don't really know why it would not work with MoI, if there is any newer driver available from the 3dconnexion web site you might try using that and see if it helps.

I'm having the same problem. It works fine with other apps. 3DxWare 10.1.1 on a Mac 10.9.2 with the latest beta.

It seems to be the 3DX driver does not handle the buttons with any XQuartz application which is what MoI on OSX currently uses to run.

Seems to be a similar problem reported on their forum here:
http://www.3dconnexion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=7314

I don't know what I can do myself to fix this currently, it's probably something that would need to be tuned up either in the driver or in XQuartz. In the future at some point I'd like to try and get MoI to not use XQuartz and that would probably make this work at that point but for now I don't think it will be possible to use the device buttons with MoI, sorry.

I got around it by using an app called ControllerMate, which I use for other things anyway.

Hi mushcraft, that's great that there is a way to make it work with ControllerMate.

Is it difficult to set up ControllerMate to work with the 3DConnexion device or is it pretty straightforward?

It's very simple, just a matter of connecting a few visual programming blocks together. Essentially every connected input device's axes and buttons shows up. It's trivial to add chording and multiple-press actions as well.

@mushycraft
I just installed ControllerMate... it detects my 3dconnexion and i put some controllerBlocks to a new page. ControllerBlock for the axis gave a feedback in ControllerMate but the ControllerBlock for the buttons don't respond to a click...??
am i doing something wrong?

Make sure you're using the blocks for the individual buttons, and not the one for the button group (though if you go into the options for that one you can make it work too).
