Blocks and Instances in Rhino5 files

Hi,

When importing files from Rhino5, MoI seems to skip all blocks and instances. The only work around seems to save that first as step in Rhino. That works fine in MoI.

Also, not sure if planed, Instances would useful in MoI. I use them a lot in Rhino and I really love to have them imported as instances in Modo (which support that via step) .. really saves me a lot time.

It's not impossible, it's on the todo list. But I doubt if it will be friendly with Rhino's way of doing things (which is not that friendly, or at least wasn't when i last played with it).

Hi Robert,

Yes currently MoI only looks for "regular" objects and does not deal with block instances in a 3DM file.

Another way is to use the Explode command in Rhino and then save as a different 3DM file, the Explode command in Rhino converts block instances into regular independent objects.

Yup, it's definitely something I want to add in the future, I'll probably be digging into it in the v4 time frame.
