Hi happy MoI users :)

I´m trying out MoI for my first time, used it for 3 days now and I really enjoy it.

But now, I need some help, been playing around for hours and cant figure out how to blend these 2 shapes.
How can I get this thing blended without having two edges sitting on top of each other?
Is my setup totally wrong or what?

(I´ve seen tutorials from Samardac and Mike Maynard but still I dont get this..)

Hi Robert, can you please post the 3DM model file instead of just a screenshot? That helps a lot to answer questions when we're able to look at your actual geometry.

My first guess from looking at what you've got there is that you probably have some curve objects selected there, which are occupying the same exact space as the surface edges.

In order to make a surface blend you need to select 2 _edges_, not just 2 curves - the edge is what is directly associated with the surface and that's what Blend will look for in order to generate a surface result.

So if you have curves in those spots, hide or delete those first to get them out of the way so you can select the edges.

Then you'll probably also need to configure that a little bit differently, you usually need to leave some more open space than that between the things you are blending, but you'll see why once you are generating some surfaces.

Hi Robert,

> I cant figure out how he get edges like this:

Check out this other video, it shows the creation of the cutting curves which then form that type of edge result:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCAmSO8qW00

also here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IR1LIpyVGA

One of the main things to notice is how there is some empty space left between the edges (not just "vertical" empty space but also in profile shaping...) , you want to have some empty area for doing a blend because the blend will warp itself to attach smoothly to each edge, if they are sort of lined up with one another that will make a kind of pronounced "S" type pattern. If you want a more relaxed looking shape you need to have some empty space so the blend surface can fill in that empty space.

Hi Robert, also attached here is an example with your file where I've cut away some more space around your surface.
