Architectural thesis WIP

So I've decided to give MoI a shot for architectural work.
Because I wanted to try a new software, because I was bored of all the other CADs and BIMs out there. Also because I wanted to experience the advantages and the flaws of this software when it comes to architectural design.
The subject is the new indoor market building in my town (Piacenza, Italy), and it's a thesis based on a project that will eventually be built.

I've been using MoI both for the 3D model and for the 2D floorplans.
As for the sections and elevations, I experienced the make2d command a lot, but the results are still not acceptable for architectural work. For now, I'm exporting the model to a BIM software and generate them from there.
For now, I'm really happy about the modeling speed, the snap system, the accuracy. To me, the modeling part of the software is complete.
Now for the flaws I really felt missing. Yes, it misses components (instanced objects that is, I really felt the lack of these, and I'm pretty sure many of us do), annotations, line weights-types, hatches. It misses a better organization of the drawing (nested groups could make it). The ability to work inside an existing group. Hopefully, they are all features that are going to be added.

Anyways, the renderings are done with Octane Render for 3ds.
There's still a lot to do, so I call this a WIP.
Hope you enjoy!

Regards,
Max. :)

Thank you! Yes, you can do it. For such small projects, organization is not that important. But for medium projects, like mine here, I had to accurately organize my file in 2d layers and 3d layers, and then group them in 2d groups (for plans, so I can switch from one to another quickly) and 3d groups. For now I think this way of organization is the best I could do for architecture. But hopefully things will get better :)

So.. After some time, I finally graduated in my master.
Thesis is entitled "The market IS the square". I managed to make a movie during the spare time. Everything was modeled in MoI and rendered on Octane. Hope you enjoy :)

I would like to thank Michael for this awesome piece of software which can actually unleash the power of mind, so powerful yet easy to use. And thanks to this great community, I've never seen such a helpful one.
Best wishes,
Max.

Congratulations on graduating Max!! That's great that all your hard work paid off, that's a very nice animation result. Really gives a sense of life and nice style to your work.

I'm really glad that MoI has been useful for you!

Thanks,
- Michael

Thanks everybody..
The flying things are Chinese balloons, there's a meaning under that actually. When I went to the project area I saw these two lovers using one, so I shot a photo of them (the one at the end of the movie).
Anyways I'm glad you appreciated.
Hope to use moi soon again for my next work :)
Max.
