Hi, I'm testing this sofware, but I'm stuck, I can't use the fillet where I need it.
Can somebody tell me if is there a way to do so?

Hi salamala, can you please post the 3DM model file so I can take a look at your actual geometry instead of only screenshots?

There are many different possible problems, and it's hard to know which in particular you're running into just from a screenshot alone.

Some ideas are: do you possibly have some curves in that same area stacked up on the same location as the edges? If so then you will need to hide those so you can select edges.

Also if those surfaces are coming together at a very slight angle to one another rather than being smooth to each other, that can make for difficulty in filleting in situations like that as well.

It helps a lot if you can post the 3DM model file with your question though.

It was an .stp
I want to keep it simple (without exporting it in plitted polygons)

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi salamala, what radius are you trying to use for the fillet?

I tested loading your file and it seems to fillet ok for me over here.... You won't be able to go much above radius 1.2 though, and also it's normal that some partial selection of edges like the one you show above with only 2 edges selected would not work, that would try to open up a hole in the object. The entire ring of 4 edges should be selected in order for this fillet to work.

Here's what I get in v2 when I try it over here:

you're actually right... thank you very much
yesterday I was trying to click 2 points to get a distance, but seems like it works better with numbers ;-)

Now I'm trying to pull out a plane....it's not so intuitive... do I have to select the plane or the edges?
how can I move it?

Seems Extrude is perfect for that! ;)

And you can Boolean Union at the end depending of what do you want! :)

I can do things that are not possible in sketchup

You can make Boolean Diff, Union, Intersect...between volumes with Moi!
It's one the caracteristic principal of the Nurbs program!

Menu Construct / Boolean / Union

yes I know, but I still cant merge the 2 complanar circles... I'm too used to sketchup,
so, same plane, delete the lines.... not here ;-)
still unable to merge...

and also, I found that when I use extrude, it creates a new surface above, so it's not the same as moving a surface :-S

Maybe you can also make a Scale 1D depending of the object

You must forget Polygon method of modelisation!

Ps You can make the same boolean with Sketchup with the Pro Version (or Free with Colean plugin ;)
but with powerless and preciseless than Moi ! :)

It sounds like you've got this figured out already, but in MoI there is not currently any method for moving an individual face. That is something that I want to add in the future but for now to get the same effect you would make an extrusion from that face and then use a boolean to either add or subtract it from the base object.

See here for how to do things similar to SketchUp:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=2215.7

MoI operates in a somewhat different way from SketchUp, but one big advantage with MoI is that you're able to work with actual curves and curved surfaces instead of only flat polygons.
