...model a car?

I'm looking at modeling this http://www.netcarshow.com/audi/2014-rs7_sportback/1024x768/wallpaper_01.htm after doing some practicing in MoI. There's a video capture series on YouTube with a guy called Vladimir Panchenko *apologies if I got the name wrong*, and he basically creates huge surfaces and then fillets and blends them together into the shape of a car.

Would that be the same principle in MoI? I know it doesn't have a zebra pattern for analysis but Michael suggested using the Metallic option in the lighting options.

PS. I'm tired of using polies to model cars in Blender, hence why I fancy a shot at a NURBS car.

Hi GrandP, car modeling is a quite involved and complicated process, and there are many different possible ways you could go about it, it also depends on the characteristics of the particular car itself...

Some previous discussions may help you:

There's a book on car modeling for Rhino here:

But just be aware that it's a highly complex and advanced level type of project, you'll probably want to build up your NURBS modeling skills doing more basic projects for a while first...

I'd pick a different car to model than the new Audi vehicles, the front grill area is especially difficult, the sides are very do-able for practicing techniques on surface structure and flow though ... Good luck with whatever you decide to model, there are some super MoI users on here that will help where-ever they can if you get stuck :)

After careful consideration I'll stick to using MoI for what it does best, making kick ass complicated parts that would otherwise take forever and a day to do with poly modeling. It took me about 9 hours in total to poly model a brake caliper. I'm quite good with Blender so I could combine the two, poly modeling for the body and then use MoI for the wheels, brakes, chassis, suspension etc etc :)
