How to cut a 3D surface in 2 parts?

Hi everybody,

I need to cut a 3d surface (bottom panel of a boat) in 2 pieces. DidnĀ“t have any success with "trim". Any suggestions?

P.s. the first picture attached shows the bottom panel (yellow) separated from the side panel. The second part of developing the panels for construction is to cut the bottom panel in 2 pieces. The end result after joining the cut panels unfolding the 3D structures is supposed to look something like this (see the second picture attached).

Thanks in advance,

Boatstalker

A very easy method :)
Draw a curve : extrude it by "Direction" through your object to cut (or place your template)
Select your Object : Trim it by the extruded curve previous
Kill the "extruded line"
Your have your object cuted in 2 parts :)
Valuable for any objects :)

Very cool Pilou, great example!

One other quick tip - if your cutting curve is planar you should generally be able to skip the extrude step, since there is some automatic extruding built into Trim itself.

Also sometimes it can be convenient to use Boolean Difference to do cuts like this as well.
