Max - You have given us some really outstanding scripts...

However,
I find only the _vSeed script.... where are the others, particularly vDrop?

Thank you VERY much!!!

Hi Max,

I have a question regarding placing vectors (manualy) in exact position in model for genereting CSV file for Octane (Standalone edition v. 4.04) in order to be able to achieve specific alignment of two geometries in the scene like this:

I have one geometry (Groove - orange) and I need to place second - more complex - geometry (Entity - cyan) in specific position in first geometry, i.e. I can export obj. file of geometry one (Groove), then geometry two - only one Entity. In Octane I am able to use The Scatter node and via CSV file placing instances.

Question 1) Where should I place and then copy the vector which would represents all of Entities in required position in geometry one (Groove)?

Let say that geometry two (Entity) is quite complex (the enclosed model is simplified), therefore it si more than useful to use The Scatter node :-)

Question 2) Which version of CSV structure is used in SaveInstances script? According to file data I suppose the version 1 (https://docs.otoy.com/StandaloneH_STA/StandaloneManual.htm#StandaloneSTA/Scatter.htm)

Thank you very much.
Mik

Hello all,

Do we have a plugin for generating Celtic knots for MOI?

Hi Psygorn,

re:

Not that I know of, but if you do a forum search for "Celtic" you can find some previous discussions with tips and links to some other online resources.

Hi Psygorn,

I use http://hypatiastudio.com/celticknots/ website before rework models with MoI.
This site is very nice and you can do many sort of knots but you can't do all you could expect.

This site permits to export STL files.
I translate STL to OBJ before an import OBJ in MoI. For this I use the Max's version because MoI's OBJ import does a subd and does a combining of faces which break my remodeling process.

You could use this knot "as is", but it's a facecetted version.
I prefer to remodel the knot by doing it with a sweep operation.
I have to build a path from the OBJ import.

The process isn't very hard, but not very fast.
In Hypatia website, I use a hexagonal base.
This base gives a front edge and a back edge.
The path, I want is the middle between those 2 edges.
To extract easily the 2 edges (front and back), I use a script (you could find it on forum) to extract "continuous" edges (parametrable because it select the edges which are close to an angle between the edges).
I rebuild (ReconstructCurve) the front and back edges to create soft curves.
A loft between the 2 curves created give me a surface and I extract the middle of this with a "Curves / Iso" operation.
It gives me the path of the knot.

With a circle and the path, the sweep gives a knot.
