Cheers Martin!

Thanks Pilou, yes I've seen that 3d print, very cool, it's optimised for SLS (laser 3d printing) it would very difficult for the FDM (Fusing type 3d printing) process.

Hey Danny, nice. Question: How much clearance did you allow between articulating parts i.e. the gear teeth that intermesh. My guess is about .003"

Wow Danny that is super cool - that's amazing that it all prints in place with "no assembly required"!

That looks like a really nice printer.

That's really neat that even the spring works from that material as well.

I could imagine that there's all kinds of possibilities for various wind up powered things, are there any particular things that you are planning on working on next with a similar design? If this was a proof of concept it seems to be proven!

Amazing that it can be printed as an assembly. Does the post-process in the bath erode all the pieces by the same amount? Or does it somehow erode only the unwanted supports?

Hi beanworks,

> Question: How much clearance did you allow between articulating parts i.e. the gear teeth that intermesh. My guess is about .003"

0.003" is a bit too fine the 3d printing process it isn't that accurate yet, the gears I had to leave a 0.008" (0.2mm) gap and the spindles after the first attempt being fused to the body I had to increase the hole diameter to have a 0.030" (0.75mm) clearance overall, that's 0.015" (0.38mm) per side.

Hi Michael,

Thanks! the Mojo printer is designed for entry level small professional design houses it's really well made and with the heated chamber the finish is great.

> are there any particular things that you are planning on working on next with a similar design?

Yeah, I started working on a design using a proven walking mechanism that looks so surreal from a Dutch design artist Theo Jansen pronounced (Tayo Yansen) and his creepy but cool Strandbeest's http://www.strandbeest.com/ I'm going to see if I can drive them with the wind-up motor.

Hi Ed,

> Does the post-process in the bath erode all the pieces by the same amount? Or does it somehow erode only the unwanted supports?

It only erodes the unwanted support material, doesn't affect the piece at all, the support material is soluble in a high alkaline solution if you want to have a look at what the support material is you can find info on it here http://www.stratasys.com/~/media/Main/Secure/MSDS/SR-30_Support/MSDS_US_SR-30_Soluble-Support-Material.pdf
