But also if you are using Sweep, you can instead use "Auto place" mode which will automatically move and rotate your planar profile curve to be perpendicular to the start of the rail curve. Autoplace mode is activated if you have a profile curve that is flat on a viewport's plane and is outside the bounding box of all the rail curves, like this:
The key thing is to make sure the profile is a little ways away from the rails to activate this mode - it must be outside of the bounding box around the rails. If it is nearby the rails then sweep will not automatically position the profile.
So if you select the profile as shown above, then run Construct > Sweep and select all the rails, you will get a result like this:
