Thanks guys, appreciated.

The network works Pilou but I can't seem to get it to join the remaining surfaces.
It is a tough one for me, I think I might try a few more approaches and see how I get on.

Must admit I do admire the skills on this forum....very impressive.

Thanks

Hi Alex, I guess what I'd probably try first is to cut these curves at these spots:

Then put in a blend like this:

Now join those pieces together so you've got some long curves to use as rails, use this curve as the profile and sweep it along those rails:

That leaves you with a little 3 sided area and you can also fill that in using one curve as a profile and the other 2 as sweep rails.

Sometimes stuff like this can be easier if you have the whole top thing being one big sort of rectangular bowl surface that then gets intersected with some side walls to trim parts of it away to form the final boundary area rather than trying to construct individual surfaces directly to an irregular boundary... That may be a bit hard to do with your particular case here though.

Another possible strategy might be to build the "tail" portion as a separate piece and then do something like blends to connect it to the main part.

Hi Michael,

The tail section as a separate entity is something I was thinking of too, I've not really used the blend function so will be an interesting exercise for me.
Many thanks for your time.

Hi Alex, the "bowl cutting surface" method would go something like this - you'd need to make one large surface that submerges down into the other ones something like this (in this case here I've done a rail revolve using half an ellipse as the rail):

Then with those pieces pushing through each other you can use Edit > Trim to slice them all up and remove excess area to end up with this:

In this method you have to concentrate more effort on making the cutting surface to have the kind of shape you want (the one I did here is not quite right), but it does leave a continuous result since the whole filled in area comes from one single surface.

Ahh yes, great idea. Looks clean and tidy. Will give it a try, thanks again Michael
