Flow help

Hi all,

I'm trying to flow several pyramidal shaped objects around a curve. I'm unclear as to what the base curve and the target curve are. Could
someone explain how I would wrap these objects around the curve?

Thanks much!

Hi Gunter, check out here for some visual examples:

The flow transformation works by mapping a point on an object from the point's distance and offset along the base curve onto the corresponding distance and offset along the target curve.

Usually the base curve should be a kind of "backbone" line running down the centerline of the objects to be deformed, and the target curve is the bent or squiggly one.

Looking at your objects you've got there, I'm not entirely sure what kind of result you're looking for though, that pattern seems a little bit too thick to me to bend very cleanly, when you have things a fair distance away from the backbone curve, they will then end up a fair distance away from the target curve as well but swung around to new rotations and if your object is thick it's easy for different pieces of the shape to stick over into each other.

But anyway if you want to give it a try draw a horizontal line right down the middle of your objects there and then use that as the base curve. Then the sequence is, first select the objects you want to deform (not any base or target curves yet), then run Flow, then select the base curve, and then select the target curve.

Hope this helps!

Michael,

Thanks so much, it works like a charm. Thank you for taking the time to explain how flow works!

It never ceases to amaze me how incredibly prompt you and others are when helping users. I'm very grateful.

Gunter
