Can anyone tell me why all individual part numbers and the hierarchy structure has gone from any imported step file? Instead I get a generic part number based not the main assembly name. It's important for me to be able to maintain this information for complex assemblies.

Hi Rob, MoI does not currently support "instancing" which would be required for the type of assembly structure retention that you're asking about.

That is something that I want to add in the future but currently things like STEP import is focused primarily on just getting the base geometry in.
