Launch the V 4.0 , close the Home Page arrived inside the prog
import the MOI file STP in the V 4.0 (Menu File "Open")

The Format STP is "only read" but...
... use the same old trick!

Go to the head of the arborescence, draw a 3D SPhere
and Right click on the head arborescence then click the enabled case Lock for "unclick it" !

And have fun direct modeling!

All will works fine! :)

Else direct importation SKP format works fine in the DSM V 4.0! ;)
It imports not textures, only color and name Group/component arborescence!

Always tricky for go from DSM 4.0 to Moi 3D! ;)

Save in native format MyObject.rsdoc inside DSM
- rename it in MyObject.zip
- unzip and search inside the Unzipped folder a file .sab inside folder SpaceClaim / Geometry
so something like part1bodies.sab

Say you put part1bodies.sab in a folder Pifou on your Desktop

Just type the 2 following lines (in a single "command line" ) replace of course Pilou by your user name! :)
( Key Logo Windows + R)

"C:\Program Files\DesignSpark\DesignSpark Mechanical 4.0\SabSatConverter.exe" -i "C:\Users\Pilou\Desktop\Pifou\part1bodies.sab"
-o "C:\Users\Pilou\Desktop\pifou\MyBeautifulObject.sat"

You can now reload the file inside Moi3D! :)

That all! :)

I am affraid the inverse Moi3D to DSM will be not so simple! In fact yes : just use the Step file format! :)

For any file stp to DSM

Launch the DSM V4.0

Load the file ".stp"

And make the little tricky create "Sphere 3D" and unlock on the top arborescence! (as seen some post above)

That's all! :)

the file step created in Moi3D

"Step" files from Moi are good for direct importation!
(but the trick of the Sphere "unlocked" always indispensable for modify it inside DSM - 2 seconds! ;)

- Direct export save as STL, OBJ, SKP works fine!

- Only nurbs format Sab / Sat should have the trick of the "command line" shown above! (5 seconds) :)

PDF 3D...seems always not visible but maybe i forgotten something again! :)
(and i am not sure to have always a pdf 3D viewer! If you have a Pdf 3D on line...
(or use the V 1.0 collector : http://designspark5.rssing.com/chan-33180489/all_p3.html

I wish editing finished models in MoI would be so easy as in DSM. Or MoI have some sort of easier part edit.

This isn't working for me. I converted the sab file successfully ( as far as i know) but then it doesnt open in moi. Can you take a look at this sab and sat file and make sure it works for me? i would appreciate it a lot! :)

Hi JerryBerry, your Converted.sat file comes in ok with the current MoI v4 beta, you can get it from http://moi3d.com/beta.htm .

One thing that's a little odd is the units are in meters so the object is of a small numeric size. You may be able to get it openable in MoI v3 if you can get the .sat file to be generated using an older version of the .sat format like version 8 or something like that. That will then make the .sat file use more general NURBS surfaces and curves for things rather than newer specialized entity types.

Here's what it looks like loaded into MoI v4:

Most sub $2000 MCAD's surface modeling are too weak, pretty useless for product design.

Not sure if this shows designspark have removed some import features over recent years:

http://help.spaceclaim.com/dsm/2.0/en/Content/Importing_and_exporting.htm

It lists autocad dxf. Click on blue autocad link and it will show dxf r12-r14, 2000 etc. (Import and export?!)

Can you confirm Pilou?

More comprehensive settings by file type here, click blue links at bottom of page:

http://help.spaceclaim.com/dsm/2.0/en/Content/File_import_and_export_options.htm

-----
》》》》 Maybe all this is out of date as the "2.0" might be from 2014 and we are now on v5??

Correct I think that full version is by ansys

"If your work demands exceed the capabilities including the add-on modules, you can consider the full version offered by the DS Mechanical developer- ANSYS SpaceClaim"
