Prelude to purchase. (can't afford Solidworks)

I built, then assembled all the parts, which produced the attached model in Solidworks student/veteran edition.

Using MOI3d is the assemble procedure the same or is it create, name the parts, on the go to final assemble?

Objective is to view a finished model, produce a cut-away or section view, modify a designed part. Is this possible?

your comments most welcome.

Hi Marv, in MoI there isn't any special "part" versus "assembly" modes, there's just one editing environment and if you want you can have multiple objects in there or not.

So yeah if you need to create 2 parts you just build 2 parts next to each other, you don't go into a separate modules to do different things.

MoI is currently only focused on generating the 3D model data though, and not doing cut away or sectioned views itself directly. So if you need those you'll probably need to export your model to another CAD program for doing that part, Alibre or ViaCAD are some possible candidates for that.

You should probably just give the MoI trial version a spin to see if you like it or not, it's available on the download page of my main web site: http://moi3d.com/download.htm
