Edit size values using mouse wheel ?

Programs like Adobe After Effects and KeyShot allow numeric values to be edited both by keyboard and by scrolling the mouse wheel.

Often I wish MoI had this feature. I realize size can also be changed by manipulating the boundary box, but clicking in a dimension field and using the mouse wheel can really fine tune the size. I would see it being used only for very fine adjustments.

Hi Ed, the somewhat difficult aspect of that is how much to step with each "tick" of the mouse wheel. It basically implies some kind of specific hard coded target range of values or specific expected target size.

Just had another look in KeyShot. The mouse wheel step value appears to be a percentage of the displayed value, and probably is a different factor depending on the function being controlled. For example, a random sample of three controls:

A value of 1 increments in 0.1 steps.
A value of 28 increments in 0.8 steps.
A value of 0.500 increments in 0.001 steps.

So again, a quick alternate way to edit values, and if set up correctly, useful to fine tune values without dragging or typing.

Using the mousewheel can be very useful,
The ringcircle2 script that I have, used to scroll down through the available values within the dropdown with the mousewheel , as well as using the drag down on the side.
This does not work in the last 3 ver3 beta updates for some reason
cheers

Hi shayno,

Yes, I can confirm your issue within the latest Beta & the RingCircle2.
Also found the same problem happening with the drop down list for fonts when using Text.

Dropdowns not responding to mouse wheel has been the case for all of v3 I think - it's a side effect from the big UI change from IE to WebKit.

Instead of the mousewheel once you have focus on a dropdown control you can use the up and down arrow keys though.

I also found the mouse wheel useful on the fonts list as its quite cumbersome to use the drop down slider , then click each time to display the next one.
I just found that once the first font is clicked on and entered the up down arrows updates the screen with the next one , so I'm happy .
