Awesome Beta!!!

The <-> clipboard illustrator is a very productive feature and It seems to work fine.
I really appreciate this detail and also colors retained in AI files.

I wonder if it would be possible to have the copy to pdf without the popup dialog?
It could take top view and no scale to page by default.

I'll see about making it possible to optionally pass in parameters to the script method that does the copy, so that you can avoid the dialog.

Hi Michael,

since i don't have Illustrator i thought i test my little iDraw app, from the Mac App Store, with pdf to clipboard from MoI and voilá it works nicely! :-)

I found a good library that helped me quite a bit, but yeah still it needed quite a bit of study of some of the details of the PDF file structure, it is really pretty complex. The reference document for it is 1310 pages long!

But a lot of things use it so it should hopefully be useful to have it in MoI.

Hi DesuDeus, I've installed the OSX Illustrator CS6 trial to investigate these OSX clipboard issues.

One thing you wrote was:

I can't seem to repeat this over here, when I draw a line with 1pt with in Illustrator and then copy it and paste it into MoI, I only seem to get one line not any doubled lines...

Does it happen when some particular other properties are set on the line like a kind of line pattern or anything like that?

I think I can probably get the AI format transfer working too, that's the next thing I'm investigating.

re: Illustrator clipboard AI format - I've got that working now for the next v3 beta.

The advantage to AI format as compared to PDF is that layers will also come over into Illustrator with AI format, as long as "Paste Remembers Layers" is enabled on the Illustrator layer panel menu.

So anyway that should be fixed in the next beta.

Good to have the "calculation failed" message - I seem to have that problem a lot ;-)

Illustrator <-> MoI is extremely useful. I don't really enjoy working in Illustrator but some tools are good and some jobs need it, so a fluid interchange it worth a lot.

Everything else looks very helpful as well.

One question: The one area I'd love to see improved is filleting, from more precise/less failures to variable radius and dealing with fillets that end in a single point etc.. Now I read in some threads that this is mainly related to the library you are using. Now I wonder if there is a way to improve this area despite this library or use a different library or is it an area you would recommend using a different software for, even long term? If the latter, do you have a recommendation in the not too expensive range?

In the long term I am hoping to try using a different library for filleting to improve the results. It's a major undertaking so I'm uncertain exactly when that will happen.

In the meantime one inexpensive program that can do better filleting is ViaCAD: http://www.punchcad.com/p-9-viacad-2d3d-v8.aspx that may be worth a try to see if it helps you out.

Thanks for reporting this bug, I will tune it up for the next beta so that selecting only 2 points will just do nothing for Loft instead of generating a script error.
